Continue reading...After high school he attended Philadelphia Biblical University, graduating with a B.S. in Bible. He pursued missionary aviation at Moody Bible Institute and safety management training at USC. Most recently Bill earned a M.S. from Philadelphia Biblical University Graduate School. Betty Jane also grew up in the Philadelphia area. Her aunt directed summer camp for CEF (Child Evangelism Fellowship), and Betty Jane attended many summers. The year she was seven, she realized her need of a personal Savior. The camp missionary led her to the Lord. Following high school, she attended Wheaton College, graduating with a B.S. in Elementary Education. Recently, she earned an M.S. from Philadelphia Biblical University. Bill and Betty Jane met at church as teens, dated through High School, and were married in 1966. Betty Jane chose Proverbs 3: 5,6 as her life verse in high school. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Betty Jane says, "As I look back over more than four decades in His service, God has clearly directed our path. That is a comfort especially through difficulties." After thirteen years of service in Brazil as a pilot-mechanic family, the Borns worked at MAF headquarters: Bill as Director of Safety and Betty Jane in Personnel and Ministry Partnership. In 1995-96 they took a Sabbatical and earned Masters Degrees in Christian Counseling. After a counseling internship at a church near their home in California, they returned to headquarters. Bill developed a volunteer ministry for MAF and Betty Jane was a Ministry Partnership counselor. In 2002, the Borns initiated Member Care - an MAF ministry that encourages and nurtures staff in the home office and around the world. A favorite verse of Bill's is Lamentations 3:22,23 "Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassion's never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." To fund the worldwide ministry of MAF, God is faithful in providing loyal, generous ministry support from His most caring people. He has called the men and women of MAF to serve Him in a unique way. He is also calling people like you around the world to play a special role in the ministry of MAF. You are invited to become a ministry partner with Bill and Betty Jane in this strategic ministry. Please prayerfully consider involvement with them through prayer and/or financial support. Collapse Bio Section |
