Stephen was born and raised in Calhoun, a small town in northwestern Georgia...
Continue reading...He grew up in a Christian home where his mother read him Bible stories and they attended church regularly. As a child he heard stories of missionaries and always wanted to be one. Stephen became a Christian the summer before he started high school. He was lying in his bed at midnight when he accepted Jesus as his Savior. He then got up and woke up his parents and his two older brothers to tell them the good news. He and Brittani met a year after Stephen finished high school and they were married a year later on June 30, 2002. His father was a mechanic and from a young age he taught Stephen how to fix things. He began his career in maintenance as an A&P apprentice at L&M Aircraft in Rome, GA. A few years later he passed all the tests to receive his A&P license. His favorite verse for his ministry is Hebrews 4:12, "For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." The Word of God is Jesus to Stephen and he desires this truth to be reflected in His life. He hopes to use his abilities as a mechanic to take the Word of God to places it has never been before, starting in Sumatra, and hopefully many other places around the world. Stephen and Brittani are very thankful for the opportunity they have been given to serve in Sumatra and believe this is only the beginning of what God has planned for them. Brittani was born in Dalton, GA, and grew up in Calhoun, GA. She received Christ as her Savior at age 19 at Grace Community Church. She began learning about missions when Stephen and she felt God calling them to the field. Stephen introduced her to MAF and she learned more about the organization by reading MAF's newsletter, FlightWatch. Before joining MAF, Brittani was employed by Southeastern Pathology as a phlebotomist and lab aid. She and Stephen served as a youth leaders at Grace Community Church for 3 1/2 years. She also volunteered at Calhoun Pregnancy center. Brittani looks forward to gaining cross-cultural experience, building new relationships, and using her gifts to serve others and to share the love of God with them. Brittani's favorite verse is 2 Corinthians 1: 3, 4 "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God." To fund the worldwide ministry of MAF, God is faithful in providing generous ministry support from His caring people. He has called the men and women of MAF to serve Him in a unique way. He is also calling people like you to play a special role in the ministry of MAF around the world. You are invited to become a ministry partner with Stephen and Brittani in this strategic ministry. Please prayerfully consider involvement with them through prayer and/or financial support. Collapse Bio Section |
