Along with the flying and management responsibilities, Dave also does the aircraft maintenance. The flying in eastern DRC supports the Congolese church, Bible translation and literacy work, and medical relief/crisis organizations in their care of thousands of displaced people from the war. An important verse to David is John 9:4 (NIV). "Because of what we have already experienced, along with the ongoing extreme insecurity in DRC, we are more impressed than ever with a sense of urgency that time is short. We need to be available and ready for windows of opportunity to serve for however long the opportunity exists.” Donna manages the home, cares for their children and also assists with “flight following” on the HF radio. She is an RN and enjoyed involvement with the village AIDS prevention and education team, assisting with seminars during their time in Nyankunde. An important verse to her is found in Hebrews 12:2a, "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith..." She says, "This verse challenges and reminds me to keep my focus, my source of strength and hope, in Jesus Christ alone. In all the chaos and upheaval of the past few years He alone is our rock." David was born in Sweden, and lived in Sweden and California. He moved to Zaire when his was 10 where his parents were with the Swedish Pentecostal Mission. He accepted Jesus as his Savior when he was six. David obtained his airframe and powerplant mechanic's license from Clover Park Technical Institute in Washington and earned his private and commercial pilots' license, along with instrument ratings, in Santa Barbara. Donna is from Michigan where her father was a pastor with the Free Methodist Church. She accepted the Lord when she was eight. Donna received a BS in nursing from Seattle Pacific University and worked for four years as an RN in the Seattle area. She went to Zaire in 1989 with the Free Methodist Mission to work as a nurse. Donna and Dave met while he was in Zaire serving his first term with MAF and she was in language school. They were married July 1990 in Bukavu, Zaire. To fund the worldwide ministry of MAF, God is faithful in providing loyal, generous ministry support from thousands of His most caring people. He has called the men and women of MAF to serve Him in a unique way. He is also calling thousands of Christians like you around the world to play a special role in the ministry of MAF. You are invited to become a Ministry Partner in this strategic ministry. Please prayerfully consider involvement with David and Donna through prayer or financial support. |

David and Donna Jacobsson and their sons Matthew and Andrew, are missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship assigned to eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). David has been the East DRC Program Manager since 1997. They are currently based in Kampala, Uganda during this time of extreme insecurity and war in eastern Congo. Dave flies into eastern Congo several days each week. They share, “We are thankful for God’s care, protection and healing. In His strength, it is a privilege to continue serving in Congo and to stand with the church during this very difficult time. The church needs encouragement. A high percentage of the church is now located in refugee camps. We have an incredible opportunity to facilitate outreach to an utterly devastated and vulnerable people. What a privilege to be in HIS SERVICE.”
