About Jim & Regina Manley

Jim and Regina Manley are missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship. Jim has two vocational passions – flying and writing – and the Lord has been able to use both for His Glory.

Currently serving from MAF’s home office in Nampa, Idaho, Jim enjoys ministering to the body of Christ through his writing.  He authored 3 technical manuals for MAF departments in transition, wrote numerous proposals, edited the MAF in-house E-zine, Around the World, and wrote a weekly devotional column, Call for News.

Now, Jim is assigned to MAF's Learning Technologies division as a Communications Specialist. There he writes articles, blogs and website content that reveal how God uses Learning Technologies to bring Christian Education as close to the village as possible. Additionally, he serves as webmaster and has developed 2 wiki websites for team collaboration around the world.

Regina also works in Learning Technologies as an Orality Specialist. She applies her graduate training in literacy to help the team communicate more effectively with oral communicators.

Recently, Regina & Jim traveled to India and to Spain. In both those trips they trained national church leaders and missionaries in the special techniques of presenting the gospel to non-literate people.

Previously, Jim and Regina ministered in Ecuador for 17 years. Jim served as a pilot, radio technician and finally as the Program Manager; Regina worked with the local church outreach with neighborhood clubs and Bible studies for women in the capitol. She also led a high school street drama team, and managed the guesthouse.

They both served on 2 different local church boards, and share that the most rewarding aspect of their ministry was helping the indigenous church take responsibility for evangelizing their own people.

Jim was born in Cleveland, Ohio, but moved to California in 1965. Jim shares that he was “a hippie and knew that my life was heading down the tubes.” While hitchhiking, a man challenged Jim to meet Christ. Jim said, “Yes.” He attended Palomar College, where he studied astronomy, physics, and aviation; Mira Mar College where he studied aviation electronics; and Berean School of the Bible. Jim holds commercial, instrument, SEL, MEL, CFI, and CFII ratings.

Jim’s favorite verse is Galatians 2:20. He shares that “when faced with insurmountable obstacles, this verse reminds me that it’s Jesus who works through me. Every breath I take is a gift of His grace.”

Regina was born in Pasadena, CA, and is the youngest of twelve children. She grew up in a Catholic home and shares that, when she was a Catholic, she loved God. But, “six months after my mother died, during my senior year in high school, I heard a message about the Lordship of Christ. The promise of His love and intimate involvement in my daily life drew me to encounter Jesus as my Lord and Savior.” Regina attended Thomas Aquinas College, CSU-North Ridge, Berean School of the Bible, the University of La Verne where she received a BA in Spanish, and Biola University where she earned an MA in Applied Linguistics.

For Regina, Psalm 139 is a favorite scripture because it talks of God’s very personal love, His magnificence and the Psalmist’s contrite response of love in return.

Jim and Regina met at an evening Bible study and were married in 1974. They have four children: Obadiah, Lisa, Heather, and Christine.

To fund the worldwide ministry of MAF, God is faithful in providing loyal, generous ministry support from His most caring people. He has called the men and women of MAF to serve Him in a unique way. He is also calling people like you around the world to play a special role in the ministry of MAF.

You are invited to become a ministry partner with Jim and Regina in this strategic ministry. Please prayerfully consider involvement with them through prayer and/or financial support.

Where We Serve

USA, Technical Field Support

The main offices of Mission Aviation Fellowship serve as a hub for MAF services worldwide. A day in the life here includes specialized flight training, staff recruitment and counseling, purchasing and shipping of aircraft parts, finance and accounting, administration of an internet gateway for worldwide e-mail, fund raising, printing and mailing of various materials, and many, many more activities.

Many representatives also serve from other locations in the United States. Church representatives act as liaisons between MAF and local churches to understand how to cooperate and be most effective together. And Recruiting representatives help to provide MAF with a constant flow of potential new staff - pilots, mechanics, IT professionals, and more - in order to keep the ministry of MAF alive and strong.
