He grew up in a Christian family, which he shares, “always had a missions focus.” While serving in the Air Force and attending Explo 72 in Dallas, he surrendered his life to Christ. Robby attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL, and Moody Aviation in Elizabethton, TN, receiving his B.S. in Missionary Aviation Technology. He also earned SEL, MEL, and Commercial Instrument ratings, and his A&P mechanics license with certification for the 500-560 Citation Jet. Besides serving with MAF, Robby has also worked as an Aircraft Mechanic at Channel Islands Aviation. A special verse to Robby is Jeremiah 29:11. “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” Carol grew up in Oxnard, CA, as well. She accepted Christ as her Savior in May of 1960 at home. She became aware of missions through her church. Carol received her A.A. in Business from Ventura College in Ventura, CA, and also attended U.C. Santa Barbara where she studied Visual Communications. She met Robby at a Youth for Christ Camp while they were in high school. They were married four years later in November of 1969. Colossians 4:3 has special significance for Carol. “And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ.” The Matthews have three adult children: Christopher, Megan, and Ben. Christopher is an artist working for an upscale kitchen and bath design center in Seattle, Megan graduated from LeTourneau University in Biomedical Engineering and currently works in accounting for an excavating company, and Ben who is married to Tara works with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Ben and Tara have two daughters, Madison, 5 years old, and Morgan, born in November 2007. To fund the worldwide ministry of MAF, God is faithful in providing loyal, generous ministry support from His most caring people. He has called the men and women of MAF to serve Him in a unique way. He is also calling people like you around the world to play a special role in the ministry of MAF. You are invited to become a ministry partner with Robby and Carol in this strategic ministry. Please prayerfully consider involvement with them through prayer or financial support. Collapse Bio Section |
