Bio

Katherine Mosher is a short-term missionary teacher with Mission Aviation Fellowship assigned to teach at the Wamena Satellite School of the Hilcrest International School in Papua, Indonesia. A special verse for her comes from Romans 10:9-10 (NIV) “That if you confess with your mouth ‘Jesus is Lord’, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved”.

Katherine was raised in a Christian home in Snoqualmie, Washington. She spent most of her early and teen years in this small town in western Washington only relocating for college. During this time her parents had an on-going ministry in the town of Fall City, Washington, as owners of a Christian bookstore called the Book Corral. While quite young, at the age of five, Katherine made a personal commitment for the Lord which was nurtured through her family, church, and visiting missionaries. At the age of 11 Katherine was baptized at Preston Baptist Church and through her adolescence and college years she was active in the local youth groups and campus ministries. Through these ministries she was able to serve God by participating in many short term mission trips including house building and VBS in Mexico and campus ministry in California.

After graduating from Western Washington University with a B.A. in History and English, Katherine spent time in Seoul, S. Korea, teaching ELL (English Language Learner Program), before returning to Washington to complete a Masters in Teaching. For six years Katherine served the students of Duvall, Washington, as a high school teacher. She also continued to volunteer as an ELL teacher at the Jubilee Reach Center in Bellevue, Washington, a center supported by her home church, First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue. In recent years she has also had the opportunity to support other missionaries through more short-term missions. Katherine enjoys hiking, biking and walking in the beautiful areas that she has had the opportunity to live in; traveling to visit family and friends or just to learn about a different culture; and reading anything that she can get her hands on.

Katherine says that God has given everyone a promise in the person of Jesus Christ and it is charged to us to make sure that every person in the world knows about Him. She looks forward to teaching and ministering to the children and missionaries of Papua, Indonesia. One of Katherine’s favorite verses is Isaiah 41:9-10 “I took you from the ends of the earth; from its farthest corners I called you. I said ‘You are my servant’; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” This verse reminds her that God has a plan for our lives and will be with us in the good times as well as the trying times. All things are possible through Christ.
