Continue reading...Brian grew up in Akron, OH. He became a Christian in the summer before 4th grade at a local church camp. Although they owned their own business and were content to have that as their career, Brian became convicted of the call to missions after listening to the Christian radio station from Moody Bible Institute. Brian attended the University of Akron, studying Criminal Justice and Political Science. He graduated from the Ohio Police Officer Training Academy, was a tank mechanic in the Ohio National Guard, and president of a commercial printing company. Most recently he served as an aircraft mechanic with Missionary Maintenance Services. Brian also took courses through Moody Bible Extension. He holds a commercial pilot"s certificate with instrument rating and is a certified flight instructor. Brian has chosen Romans 12:1,2 as his favorite verses. He shares, "If we offer ourselves to God, He can use us. We will no longer strive to obtain worldly recognition. Rather, God will help us see the world as He does. Through the lens of the Word, we will cast off our worldly outlook for a spiritual one." Tricia was born and raised in Akron, OH, as well. "As I watched my parents go through a painful divorce, a high school friend told me I could find hope and comfort in Jesus Christ. I accepted Him as my personal savior and was baptized." Tricia"s awareness of missions came through her church, which had a great missions emphasis providing many opportunities to hear how God was working around the world. Tricia attended the University of Akron, earning her B.A. in Business and Organizational Communication. She also took continuing education courses through Moody Bible Extension. Brian and Tricia were high school "sweethearts" and married in 1989. To fund the worldwide ministry of MAF, God is faithful in providing loyal, generous ministry support from His most caring people. Brian and Tricia Pottinger, along with their children Taylor and Tessa, are missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship. They are assigned to Asia where Brian will serve as a pilot/mechanic. Brian shares that planting thriving, Bible-believing churches for indigenous, unreached people groups is the heartbeat of missions. "I am thankful for the gifts God has given me in the area of flight and maintenance. He has given us a part in His plan to reach the nations. Through the use of small airplanes, we are able to multiply the effectiveness of the indigenous church and reach the unreached." In addition to being a helpmate for Brian, Tricia looks forward to ministering to children in the community. Matthew 24:14 is a special verse for their family. "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come."
