Bio
Ben was born in South Bend, IN, but grew up in the rural town of Bremen, IN. He was raised in a Christian home, but did not experience a personal relationship with Christ until after he went through an extremely rebellious period. When he reached the end of himself, the Lord changed Ben's life through the testimony of his second cousin and a powerful message given by Josh McDowell at a Petra concert. That night he gave his life to the Lord. Ben became aware of missions during high school. He participated in two summer trips with Teen Missions International to Papua New Guinea and Kenya, Africa. Ben attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL and Moody Aviation in Elizabethton, TN. He earned a B.S. in Missionary Aviation as well as a "General" amateur radio license. Ben recently obtained his I.A. (Inspection Authorization) from the FAA, after gaining two years work experience in Elkhart, IN. For Ben, Acts 17:28 is a favorite verse. "For in Him we live and move and exist." He shares that this verse reminds him of his Creator, why he is here, and what he should invest his life in; serving the Lord. Amy was born in Wamena, Irian Jaya, Indonesia. Her family returned to Elizabethton, TN when she was five, where she remained throughout high school, except for her eighth grade year, which was spent in Indonesia. Amy accepted Christ as her Savior when she was seven years old through the help of her mother. Her attendance at Sunday School prompted her questions and desire for forgiveness. She shares that she had a full understanding of the gospel, but not the maturity to let it change her. While overseas in the eighth grade, Amy recommitted her life to the Lord. Amy's parents were missionaries and she participated in a Teen Missions International trip during high school. Both experiences heightened her desire to share the love of Christ with others. Amy spent one year at Moody Bible Institute and then transferred to Milligan College in northeast TN. She graduated with B.S. in Nursing and has worked as a R.N. at Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart, IN for the past two years. Ben and Amy met at Moody Bible Institute and were married in May of 2000. Matthew 11:28-30 is a special verse for Amy. She shares that these verses drew her closer to the Lord in the eighth grade. Ben and Amy Snyder are
missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship assigned to Africa, where
Ben will be a Maintenance Specialist. Ben is very excited about being
able to use his technical skills in aviation and computers to further
the Kingdom of God. He is also looking forward to teaching in the local
church once he has become more fluent in the language of the region.
Amy plans to be a support to Ben as he maintains MAF aircraft. She
hopes to continue to use her nursing skills in local clinics or
hospitals. Amy shares that; "meeting someone's physical needs often
offers opportunity to care for their spiritual needs as well."
