First Baptist of Fort Collins was her families church home, where she heard HIS calling at age 8 one Sunday morning. During High School she participated in a Missions trip with her youth group to Indonesia and on that trip had her first encounter with MAF and flying backseat in a 185. She graduated from Rocky Mountain High and then attended McPherson College in search of a Pre Veterinarian major but ended up with Tom. They worked on the family farm for several years then in 1986 moved to Broomfield Colorado where Tom earned his Airframe and Power plant certifications as well as his private pilot rating. Tom worked for Windsong aviation for 8 years and Diana for a local travel agency then for Continental airlines in international Reservations. Anthony and then Joshua joined the family in 1987 and 1990. While living in Broomfield First Baptist Broomfield became their church home and it was there that they heard the Lord leading them to serve in foreign ministry. After encountering MAF in an article in Flying Magazine they applied for a Short Term position and were accepted in 1995. The family moved to Puerto Ayacucho Venezuela in 1996 and served there till 2006 when the program was mothballed due to legislation making it impossible to continue serving the Churches, Missions, and communities of southern Venezuela. During those 11 years Tom served as Email Administrator for the “MAFnet” system, as well as Aircraft Maintenance Specialist for the 3 aircraft stationed there. During there second term there Tom served as interim Pastor for the Mission Central Baptist church for one year and the family had two of the regular Pastors children live with them while he was away in Seminary. Diana watched over the home, and filled in on the HF radio flight following the MAF flights, she also found time to participate in ESL classes and open our home to numerous travelers who needed a place to stay while waiting flights or other needs which brought them to Puerto Ayuacucho. In the spring of 2005 Tom was able to take part in the Tsunami relief efforts in Banda Aceh, Indonesia where he helped manage the “NGO internet Café” for one month. Tom, Diana, and Joshua were asked to help out in Central Asia during the summer of 2006. Diana helped out in the finance office while Tom helped out with the routine maintenance on the aircraft there. Diana took the opportunity to start learning Russian from some of the other staff who are Russian Nationals. Anthony started College at Front Range Community college the Fall semester of 2006. He is looking at the Computer communications field and is interested in Network administration. Tom, Diana, and Joshua will be moving to Colombia South Carolina to attend the Russian Language Ministries language school in January. This is in preparation for their planned move to Siberia to work with the effort to start a Christian Aviation Program to serve the Mission and Church works there as well as the communities, which have been left without adequate transportation since the breakup of the U.S.S.R. The Mason Family have placed their faith in Jesus to watch over them and to use them to reach out to those who don’t know Him yet. One of our many favorite verses is, 1 Timothy 2: 3-4, 3"For this [is] good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth." We are looking forward to seeing this come to pass in Siberia and are humbled by the opportunity He has given us to be part of His global work.
