Bio

Stan and Ronda Unruh, and their children, Benjamin, Nathan, and David, are missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship serving this past term in Tarakan, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. The biggest highlight for Stan has been providing safe and reliable flight service for the church and people of East Kalimantan.

Stan has been responsible for managing the day to day operations of the MAF Kalimantan program.

A big program accomplishment has been working alongside a Dutch engineer in planning and overseeing the completion of a floating, cement dock for the floatplane operation in Central Kalimantan. By the fall of 2009, the second part of that building phase should be completed; a large, floating hangar will enable the floatplanes to be lifted out of the water for maintenance and storage.

One of Ronda's ministries over the past 2½ years has been playing on a local women's volleyball team.  Several times a week she has had the opportunity to interact with these ladies and become a part of their lives.  She shares, "The most rewarding thing about this has been that each of these ladies, all of another faith, has come to visit me, and one in particular has expressed her desire to change faiths."

Another ministry for Ronda has been teaching English to the staff at one of the hotels in Tarakan, and also to two other women, who are believers, but still live with a family of non-believers. "It was very special to be able to open up my Bible with them in the freedom of my home and share its contents. This was a wonderful treat for them, as the Bible has been banned from their homes."

As Ronda has been interacting closely with these women, Philippians 1:9-10, "And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ," has become her prayer. She shares, "I wrote this out on a 3x5 card, placing it on my dresser so that I could see it daily. My deepest desire is that, in my interactions, others would see my love for them, and that I would be wise and discerning in how I shared my life and belief with them."

Stan and Ronda are eagerly anticipating a new assignment in the Fall 2008. They will be relocating to Nepal, working with another MAF family to establish a new flight ministry there. Stan states that I Corinthians 3:5-9 is especially meaningful to him now as the family heads into a new work with such a variety of tasks. "The passage clearly defines our role as a servant of God. We need to be sure to perform the tasks faithfully that God has assigned to us and leave the results to Him. It is a great reminder to be ready and available to do what the Lord asks."

Stan, the son of missionary parents, was born in Ethiopia. He spent his elementary school years in Liberia, West Africa, and moved back to the States as a young teen. Ronda was born in Illinois and grew up in Arizona. Both Stan and Ronda accepted Jesus as their Savior when they were young children.

Stan received a BS in Mission Aviation Technology from Moody Bible Institute, and holds a commercial pilot's license (SEL, SES) with instrument rating, along with an airframe and powerplant mechanic's license. During this past term he also received his CFI. Ronda received a diploma in Christian Education from Moody. Ronda and Stan met at Moody and were married in 1991 in Arizona.

To fund the worldwide ministry of MAF, God is faithful in providing loyal, generous ministry support from His most caring people. He has called the men and women of MAF to serve Him in a unique way. He is also calling people like you around the world to play a special role in the ministry of MAF.

You are invited to become a ministry partner in this strategic ministry. Please prayerfully consider involvement with Stan and Ronda through prayer and/or financial support.
