Eric and Hannah Bell are missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship, serving in Kalimantan, Indonesia. They are the proud parents of Chloe, Grace, and Charis and are excited to be a part of the MAF team in Kalimantan as a pilot/mechanic family. The Kalimantan team uses their aircraft to provide medevac flights and support the local church in their outreach to their neighbors. The Bells have a desire to daily live out Romans 15:5-6 through their personal and family life, no matter where they are or what they are doing: “May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” With this unity in mind, the Bells hope to glorify Christ through the ministries God has called them to within the home and community.
Eric received his flight and maintenance training through Liberty University, where he began to feel God’s push toward serving as a pilot/mechanic overseas. His desire to serve stemmed from the knowledge that there are still people groups that do not yet have any part of the Bible in their language. How can they hear and believe the Gospel without anyone to bring it to them? Eric’s passion for aviation combined perfectly with the desire to support and enable missionaries doing translation and teaching among those unreached tribes. Eric fits well in Kalimantan as God uses not only his passion for aviation but also his non-work passions such as sports, building things and anything outdoors. He has had many opportunities to use his interests in soccer and bicycling to connect with Indonesian co-workers and to build relationships.
Hannah had always been drawn to the adventure of missions since she was a little girl, but after taking a missions course in college, the need and call to serve became urgent. Hannah, like Eric, had a conviction to somehow serve those who had little or no access to the Bible, and God used that similar heart to draw her and Eric together. God is faithful in using Hannah’s “people person” gifts in Kalimantan as she greatly enjoys bonding with neighbors, store owners, and most anyone she comes into contact with during her daily life as a mother of three young children. Their girls love living in Indonesia and playing with their friends. They are growing to have a true heart for the people around them, always desiring to be a part of the ministry God has called their family to.
Following the last term’s assignment to Papua, Indonesia, the Bells are now serving on the island of Kalimantan, Indonesia and excited to see all that God has in store for them there.
God calls the men and women of MAF to serve Him in unique ways. He may also be calling you to a special role in the Bells’ ministry. Please prayerfully consider becoming a Ministry Partner with them through prayer and/or financial support.
MAF missionaries raise support for a pooled fund out of which MAF covers salary, housing, benefits, and staff-related ministry expenses. MAF exercises discretion over the use of missionary support in the exercise of its mission and care of its staff.
