Brian and Heather Marx

Brian and Heather Marx are missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship serving in Papua, Indonesia as a pilot/mechanic family. Brian is the son of MAF missionaries who daily live out the Gospel and led him to salvation in Christ when he was five years old. During high school, Brian realized the great need for missionary pilots and felt God’s calling on his life.

Heather Olsen Marx was also raised by godly parents and trusted Christ at a young age. God has given Heather a love for cultivating community as well as creative, artistic talent that she uses to impact her world for the Kingdom. Heather met Brian through mutual friends; they courted several years, then married in October 2007. Their son Ethan was born in Indonesia in 2010. Jayden and Elyse, twin boy and girl, joined the family during furlough in 2013.

Brian led the team in Nabire for 11 years balancing management, flight, and maintenance responsibilities. The Marx family is now transitioning to the Sentani base which better suits their educational needs. Brian will continue flying in support of mission and church work. Key ministries include: Transport and supply for dozens of Church planters and Bible translators in remote villages. Supporting Lentera Papua Harapan, a growing ministry focused on education and healthcare for isolated peoples. Each flight brings hope, help, and healing to the isolated tribes of Papua.

Heather is an amazing ministry partner! Her outgoing personality and love for hospitality builds community for those we serve. Our simple house is a day’s-end retreat. From this platform she hosts a regular stream of missionaries and local believers as they come and go from interior villages.  As a gifted artist, Heather uses chalk art and other mediums to build up local churches and encourage those we serve.

• Grew up in Honduras and Ecuador
• Graduated from Moody Bible Institute with a degree in Missionary Aviation Technology
• Holds Airframe and Powerplant mechanic ratings
• Holds Private, Instrument, Multi-engine, and Commercial pilot licenses. Has logged over 5000 flight hours
• 11 years aviation management experience in a cross cultural setting

Heather

• Born and raised in Baton Rouge, LA
• Studied with Eternity Arts in Michigan
• Trained 23 chalk artists and has presented over 100 chalk talks in the United States, Ecuador, China, Mali, and Indonesia
