Mike and Christy Brown and their three children, Collin, Joshua, and Megan, are missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship serving at the Sentani base in Papua, Indonesia. “It is our privilege to serve the missions, national church, and the people of Papua through aviation. Helping facilitate those involved in evangelism, Bible translation and other ministries brings joy to our hearts. Nothing beats a plane load of Bibles, translated into a local language and being flown into a village for the first time. That is just one thing we get to be part of!”
In Sentani, Mike is the Assistant Program Manager of the MAF Papua Program. That means that in addition to flying and maintaining airplanes, he oversees the Flight, Maintenance, and Finance operations in Papua.
Christy provides a loving, Christian home for her family, as well as hospitality to visitors. In fact, she is in charge of the MAF Sentani guest house! The Browns are looking forward to continued service to the Lord in Papua for another term.
Mike was born in Loma Linda and raised in Yucaipa, California. He says, “I accepted the Lord as my Savior when I was four years old while talking with my dad. I am very thankful that I was raised in a Christian home.” Mike holds a Commercial Pilot’s license with an Instrument Rating, and he earned an Airframe and Power Plant Mechanics license from San Bernardino Valley College in California. He also studied Bible through Columbia Bible College correspondence courses.
Christy was born in Yucaipa and raised in Calimesa, California. She accepted the Lord as her Savior at Vacation Bible School, in first grade. Christy attended Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California, where she received a B.A. in Liberal Studies and an elementary teaching credential. Mike and Christy have known each other since they were very young, and were married in August 1992.
God calls the men and women of MAF to serve Him in unique ways. He may also be calling you to a special role in the Browns’ ministry. Please prayerfully consider becoming a Ministry Partner with them through prayer and/or financial support.
MAF missionaries raise support for a pooled fund out of which MAF covers salary, housing, benefits, and staff-related ministry expenses. MAF exercises discretion over the use of missionary support in the exercise of its mission and care of its staff.
