MAF missionaries raise support for a pooled fund out of which MAF covers salary, housing, benefits, and staff-related ministry expenses. MAF exercises discretion over the use of missionary support to carry out its mission and care for its staff.

Jonathan and Nicole de Jongh serve with Mission Aviation Fellowship in western Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) with their four energetic boys and one daughter – Noah, Quinten, Wyatt, Otis, and Aria.

Jonathan is a pilot/mechanic, which means his roles include flying and maintaining airplanes. He enjoys using these roles to make connections with people and show them the love and hope of Christ, as well as exemplifying the love of Jesus through discipleship.

Born in Belgium, Jonathan was raised in a loving missionary home. Through his parents’ godly example and teaching, he accepted Jesus as his personal Savior at a young age. As Jonathan grew in his faith, he discovered that God had a specific calling on his life. The Lord opened the door for Jonathan to attend Moody Aviation in Spokane, WA, to fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a pilot. There he became an aircraft mechanic, pilot and flight instructor, and grew in his desire to serve cross-culturally through missions. After graduation Jonathan spent three years working as a Moody flight instructor where he gained practical experience in flying, mentoring, and teaching other men and women with a similar passion to serve the Lord through the skill of aviation.

Nicole grew up in Wisconsin and received Christ as her personal Savior and all-sufficient Father in high school. Walking in obedience to the calling Christ had for her life, she moved across the country to Spokane, WA, to attend college and pursue missions. She felt God place a desire in her to minister to the hearts of women. With this desire, Nicole earned her bachelor’s degree in ministry leadership with an emphasis in women’s ministry from Moody Bible Institute. Along with supporting Jonathan in their flying ministry with MAF, Nicole also continues her role as a stay-at-home mom with the goal to “do everything for God’s glory” (1 Corinthians 10:31). With a gift in hospitality, she enjoys hosting locals and many international staff in their home. She desires to proclaim what Christ has done for her and what He has in store for all of His creation!

Jonathan and Nicole met in 2007 while attending Moody and were married in August 2009. They desire to serve the Lord faithfully, with their wills surrendered to Him, always remembering how He is trustworthy and good. First Samuel 12:24 reminds them: “But be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.”

God calls the men and women of MAF to serve Him in unique ways.  He may also be calling you to a special role in the de Jongh’s ministry.  Please prayerfully consider becoming a Ministry Partner with them through prayer and/or financial support.
