Rick and Rebecca Emenaker have served with Mission Aviation Fellowship since 1991 and have had the privilege of seeing God work in several different parts of the world. They are now based at MAF headquarters in Nampa, Idaho, working to support MAF’s global ministry.
The Emenakers spent ten years with MAF in Paramaribo, Suriname in South America, where Rick served as a pilot/mechanic, instructor pilot, and program manager. In 2001 when the Suriname program nationalized, the Emenakers moved to Moscow, Russia. For seven years, Rick managed the MAF program there which supported missionaries and mission organizations through logistics, warehousing, distance education, secure email service, and visa support. In addition to Suriname and Russia, they also accepted a short-term assignment on loan to a humanitarian organization where they lent their expertise and experience to help start an aviation school. Rick is currently one of MAF’s Disaster Response managers and works with his team to respond rapidly and effectively to disasters worldwide—sharing the love of Christ in tangible and intangible ways when people are vulnerable and in need. Rebecca is a Ministry Partnership Coach, encouraging and empowering staff as they raise and maintain a team of prayer and financial support.
Both Rick and Rebecca were born and raised in Southern California. Rick came to Christ as a young adult, and Rebecca accepted Christ when she was nine. They met in 1981 at a Bible study while working at Yosemite National Park, where they also learned about the ministry of MAF. They married in 1984.
Rick earned a degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology from Long Beach City College in California. He received his flight training from Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and a B.A. in Aviation Management from Utah Valley University. He is a commercial/instrument pilot, a certified flight instructor (CFII), and an Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic (A&P) with an Inspection Authorization (IA) rating. Rick also attended Bible school in Cannon Beach, Oregon. A favorite verse of Rick’s is Psalm 34:8—“Taste and see that the Lord is good . . .”
Rebecca received a B.A. and M.A. in Intercultural Studies from Biola University in La Mirada, California. She also has a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate. She has had several diverse roles in ministry over the years including flight follower, librarian, Bible study leader, and English teacher. One of her favorite passages of Scripture is Ephesians 3:18-20 because it reminds her that our trustworthy, mighty God loves us deeply and works in and through us in ways we could never imagine.
Rick and Rebecca’s three adult children grew up overseas and now live in the United States
MAF missionaries raise support for a pooled fund out of which MAF covers salary, housing, benefits, and staff-related ministry expenses. MAF exercises discretion over the use of missionary support in the exercise of its mission and care of its staff.
