MAF missionaries raise support for a pooled fund out of which MAF covers salary, housing, benefits, and staff-related ministry expenses. MAF exercises discretion over the use of missionary support to carry out its mission and care for its staff.
Nathan and Becky Fagerlie are missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship, serving in Papua, Indonesia, as a pilot/mechanic family. An important verse to them is, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31.
Nathan was raised in a Christian home in Phoenix, Arizona. Growing up, Nathan attended a Christian school, and he intended to pursue aviation through the Air Force. Between his junior and senior year, God got hold of his heart and gave him a desire to pursue missions work. Still having an interest in aviation, Nathan attended Moody Bible Institute where he graduated with a B.S. in mission aviation. After graduation, Nathan was able to hone his skills as a pilot and flight instructor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Becky was born in Arlington Heights, Illinois, into a strong Christian family. She spent her early years in the Chicago suburbs and her teens in the small farming community of Morris, Illinois. Becky became a Christian at a young age when she prayed with her Sunday School class. It wasn’t until an internship in Wales, after graduation from Moody Bible Institute, that God gave her a heart for missionary work. Becky has a B.A. in Bible Theology from Moody Bible Institute. She has worked in retail and as an administrative assistant for The Heights Church in Prescott, Arizona.
Becky and Nathan were friends while in college but did not begin dating until after graduation. They were married after a few months and soon joined MAF with a desire to serve God overseas.
Nathan loves using the airplane as a tool to help unreached/remote people groups. In his last term, Nathan helped deliver Bibles to the Dani people in the mountains of Papua. For many of these people, this was the first time they owned a Bible in their own language.
Becky loves caring for their home and making it a happy environment for Nathan to return to after a hard day of flying. She also loves to serve people by providing them a tasty meal or just a listening ear.
Elias joined their family in 2013 while on furlough, and Layla joined their family in 2017. The Fagerlies currently serve in Wamena, Papua.
God calls the men and women of MAF to serve Him in unique ways. He may also be calling you to a special role in Nathan and Becky’s ministry. Please prayerfully consider becoming a ministry partner with them through prayer and/or financial support.
