MAF missionaries raise support for a pooled fund out of which MAF covers salary, housing, benefits, and staff-related ministry expenses. MAF exercises discretion over the use of missionary support to carry out its mission and care for its staff.
Dave and Hilda Fyock have been missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship for more than 29 years. Dave and Hilda have been blessed to serve in Albania, Costa Rica, and the US home office in Idaho. They currently serve in the UK with MAF International, a sister organization. Their two sons, Sean and Micah, live and work in the US.
Dave states, “MAF is about seeing isolated people changed by the love of Christ. Acts 17:26 indicates that God has set a time and determined the borders for every nation or people group so that they will come to seek His face. I am privileged to serve with an organization that focuses on the least accessible areas of the world. In September 2017 Dave was installed as the CEO for MAF International. His 12 years of serving in various vice president roles in the US gave him a great foundation to build on as he leads this team of committed men and women.
God has been preparing Dave and Hilda for this ministry since childhood. Both became Christians when they were five years old and came from strong Christian homes. Dave was born in Pennsylvania and lived in Venezuela with his missionary parents during his teen years. It was there that he felt called to the ministry. Dave received a B.S. degree in aviation technology from LeTourneau University in Texas. He is a licensed airframe and power plant mechanic as well as a commercial pilot.
Hilda recalls, “My parents and their missionary friends were the biggest influence in my life. We always had missionaries speaking in our churches and staying in our home. When I was in my early teens, I told the Lord I would go wherever He wanted me to go.” Hilda received a B.A. in broadcast communications from Asbury University and a M.A. in telecommunications from Baylor University in Texas.
In Albania and Costa Rica, Hilda enjoyed hosting people in her home, facilitating women’s Bible studies, teaching computer skills to unwed mothers, and producing videos for theological education, as well as taking care of her own family. She now works as the Learning and Development Manager for MAF International using her talents to support staff through soft-skill workshops, e-learning and management training. Hilda quotes 2 Corinthians 12:9 as a favourite verse, “But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness,’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” She says, “God continues to give me some unique opportunities to serve Him as He has in the past, and I continue to learn about trusting Him.”
God calls the men and women of MAF to serve Him in unique ways. He may also be calling you to a special role in Dave and Hilda’s ministry. Please prayerfully consider becoming a ministry partner with them through prayer and/or financial support.
