Jeremiah and Mindy Hartin and their children, Olivia and Hudson, are a Pilot/Mechanic family and have served in Papua, Indonesia. The truths of Psalm 33:20-22 give the Hartins a confidence in following God’s leading, no matter what the circumstances, remembering that it is His strength and purpose that give joy and fulfillment. As they abide in Christ, the Hartins are blessed to encourage others toward deeper intimacy with God. Jeremiah enjoys using the airplane to bring hope and help to the isolated communities in Papua.
Mindy enjoys creating a warm home devoted to the Lord as they raise Olivia and Hudson. As a nurse, Mindy is also passionate about community health, especially serving fellow missionaries and the local community.
Jeremiah was born in central Oregon and grew up in Citrus Heights, CA. As a boy he learned about the grace of God in church but it wasn’t until his teen years that he began to understand what it meant to follow Christ. Jeremiah heard about MAF in a play called “At Any Cost,” about Nate Saint and the other missionaries martyred in Ecuador in 1956. Jeremiah prepared for service with MAF by completing his aviation training with a flight instructor and mentor from his church.
Mindy was born in Sacramento and grew up in Granite Bay, CA. Her life with Christ began when she was six years old as she prayed with a Sunday School teacher for forgiveness and new life. Through high school and college Mindy went on short-term mission trips to Mexico, Denmark, Sweden, and Honduras, and sensed God preparing her for long-term mission service. She earned her Bachelors Degree in Nursing, with a minor in Intercultural Studies at Biola University in La Mirada, California.
The Hartins were married in 2005 and welcomed Olivia to the family in 2009, and Hudson in 2011. They look to Romans 12:9-13 as a guide for the family: “Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.”
God calls the men and women of MAF to serve Him in unique ways. He may also be calling you to a special role in the Hartins’ ministry. Please prayerfully consider becoming a Ministry Partner with them through prayer and/or financial support.
The U.S. offices of MAF serve as a hub for MAF services worldwide. A day in the life here includes specialized flight training, staff mobilization and counseling, purchasing and shipping of aircraft parts, finance and accounting, administration of an Internet gateway for worldwide email, fund raising, printing and mailing of various materials, and many, many more activities. Some staff serve around the country; training future pilots and mobilizing potential candidates to serve with MAF.
MAF missionaries raise support for a pooled fund out of which MAF covers salary, housing, benefits, and staff-related ministry expenses. MAF exercises discretion over the use of missionary support in the exercise of its mission and care of its staff.
