Jared and Teresa Wiley

“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.  Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.  Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.  If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God.  If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.  To Him be the glory and the power forever and ever.  Amen.”  I Peter 4:8-11

Jared and Teresa Wiley, along with their daughter Jenika and their son Tekoa, serve with Mission Aviation Fellowship as teachers at the Papua Hope School, located in the Indonesian province of Papua.

For Jared, the desire to serve God overseas started early in life. He grew up as an MAF missionary kid in Papua, Indonesia, and was able to see, firsthand, the impact that the Gospel of Christ can have on people. This impact was specifically evident to Jared through the context of sports and the relationships it helped build. He decided to attend college in the US and get his degree and teaching credentials in physical education.

Teresa, who grew up in the heart of Seattle, Washington, first became interested in missions when she was a senior in high school. Her home church sent out a yearly medical team to Haiti, and Teresa decided to go along. Not only did her experiences on that trip influence her to pursue a career in nursing, but they also showed her the impact that God can have through healthcare, especially in developing countries.

When they met and started dating in college, a big part of their relationship centered around future service overseas. By the time they decided to marry, they had chosen 1 Peter 4:8-11 to be their life verse. It was clear that God had given Jared and Teresa specific gifts to serve others.

Jared is currently using his degree in physical education to teach at Papua Harapan (Hope) School. It is a small school located in Papua, Indonesia, that is focused on providing a quality education for students from remote villages that MAF serves. The school focuses first on teaching Godly Character, followed by Constructive Attitudes, Superior Academic Skills, and Productive Lifelong Habits. He loves teaching, especially the aspects that help to mentor and disciple students in their walk with Christ.

In addition to loving her role as a mom, Teresa enjoys connecting with the Hope School students through small group discipleship, weekend activities, and hosting meals in their home. She also volunteers weekly to mentor the school nurse and support the development of school healthcare policies.

As they progress in their ministries, their prayer is that their life verse will be increasingly true — that they will love others deeply and offer hospitality freely, using the gifts that they have been given to serve others so that God may be praised through Jesus Christ.

God calls the men and women of MAF to serve Him in unique ways. He may also be calling you to a special role in Jared and Teresa’s ministry. Please prayerfully consider becoming a Ministry Partner with them through prayer and/or financial support.
