MAF missionaries raise support for a pooled fund out of which MAF covers salary, housing, benefits, and staff-related ministry expenses. MAF exercises discretion over the use of missionary support to carry out its mission and care for its staff.

Roy and Lientje Kidjo have been with Mission Aviation Fellowship since 1987 in both their home country of Suriname, South America, and Papua, Indonesia. Roy served as an IT specialist, aircraft mechanic, avionics specialist, and program manager, and Lientje served as a bookkeeper with a medical mission hospital.

In addition to helping the aviation ministry of MAF, Roy had the opportunity to work with the local churches in evangelism, teaching, music and counseling ministries. Aviation and IT play an important role in the quest to extend the Kingdom of God, and MAF is here to bring transformation to communities and to win them for Christ.

Roy shares, “I grew up in an Islamic community. As my father was about to become an Islamic elder, a missionary changed our lives. My parents accepted Christ as their Savior. When I was nine, I gave my life to Christ.” Roy’s dream was to become a missionary, and when he met an MAF pilot, he believed he had found what God wanted him to do. Roy studied electronics at the University of Suriname and then he enrolled at Moody Aviation in Tennessee where he studied avionics. Romans 8:28 is especially meaningful to him.

As the daughter of a pastor, Lientje had the privilege of growing up in a Christian home. She says, “I accepted Christ into my life when I was 12. When my father died at age 38, I began to realize what Christ really meant to me.” Her mother and a missionary were strong influences in her life. Lientje provides a loving home for her family and reaches out to the community. One of her favorite Scriptures is Proverbs 3:5-6.

Roy and Lientje have moved to the US and accepted a new role within MAF in the Aviation Management System department. Roy will be engaged in bringing a computer-based maintenance documentation program online for MAF. The goals are better management of the resources God has trusted to MAF by centralizing and standardizing oversight and planning. This will reduce the workload on the field through better-integrated support from MAF.

God calls the men and women of MAF to serve Him in unique ways. He may also be calling you to a special role in the Kidjos’ ministry with MAF. Please prayerfully consider becoming a ministry partner with Roy and Lientje through prayer and/or financial support.

The U.S. offices of MAF serve as a hub for MAF services worldwide. A day in the life here includes specialized flight training, staff mobilization and counseling, purchasing and shipping of aircraft parts, finance and accounting, administration of an Internet gateway for worldwide email, fund raising, printing and mailing of various materials, and many, many more activities. Some staff serve around the country; training future pilots and mobilizing potential candidates to serve with MAF.
