MAF missionaries raise support for a pooled fund out of which MAF covers salary, housing, benefits, and staff-related ministry expenses. MAF exercises discretion over the use of missionary support to carry out its mission and care for its staff.
Brock and Lisa Larson are excited to be serving the Lord with Mission Aviation Fellowship. After nearly seven years in Indonesia they transitioned to a role at MAF’s headquarters. Brock appreciated the chance to serve as an MAF pilot and believes his flying gave him unique opportunities to reach the lost with the Good News of the Gospel, to help those in need, and to be a vessel for “good works” (Ephesians 2:8-10). In his current role as the Vice President of Global Impact, he is honored to use his experiences to help measure and increase MAF’s impact around the globe and not only Indonesia. While in Indonesia, Lisa loved serving in the local community and teaching English to Indonesian teachers. She enjoys her part of the leadership role by serving teammates with Brock and mentoring younger women.
Brock was born in Boise, Idaho, and grew up as an Air Force dependent, living mostly in Edwards AFB, CA, where his fascination with flight began. In 1986, he graduated from Iowa State University with an Air Force commission and a degree in aerospace engineering. He then started his career as an AF pilot and soon married Lisa who played the most significant role in leading him towards a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. At 25, Brock became a believer. He first heard of MAF as an instructor pilot early in his career. He left active duty service in 1995 and pursued self-employment. In late 2000, he entered the AF Reserves where he began to instruct student pilots once again. Brock earned his master’s degree in Christian Leadership from Liberty University in 2010. Several years later, he retired from a 20+ year AF career.
Lisa was born in Washington D.C. and grew up in a Christian home in Iowa where she learned to love the Lord at an early age. She married Brock in 1988 after graduating from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. While staying home to raise and homeschool their four children (Katelyn, Collene, William, and Joshua), Lisa was also active in their local church. She became more convicted about serving in ministry after several experiences including going on a mission trip to Mexico, working at Focus on the Family, and serving as a foster family. Lisa and Brock became passionate about overseas missions after a family mission trip to the Dominican Republic in 2010. Since that time, both clearly saw that God was providing the perfect opportunity to answer that call to missions through MAF.
Brock and Lisa’s life experience, love for people, and passion for missions have prepared them well for this season of life.
God calls the men and women of MAF to serve Him in unique ways. He may also be calling you to a special role in Brock and Lisa’s ministry. Please prayerfully consider becoming a ministry partner with them through prayer and financial support.
The U.S. offices of MAF serve as a hub for MAF services worldwide. A day in the life here includes specialized flight training, staff mobilization and counseling, purchasing and shipping of aircraft parts, finance and accounting, administration of an Internet gateway for worldwide email, fund raising, printing and mailing of various materials, and many, many more activities. Some staff serve around the country; training future pilots and mobilizing potential candidates to serve with MAF.
