Dave and Gerd LePoidevin serve with Mission Aviation Fellowship at the Nampula base in Mozambique, Africa. From its small beginning in 1999, the team has grown to include four dedicated and gifted families, with one more coming.
Dave says, “My passion is to serve and to see the lives of the Mozambican people transformed physically and spiritually.” Dave is especially pleased that MAF-Mozambique is a partner in the MozMed project in which MAF provides transportation to Christian doctors, nurses, and dentists, who minister to isolated people in the name of Jesus.
Dave’s favorite verse is Isaiah 40:31, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Dave says, “I not only feel encouraged by the picture of soaring above this world’s frustrations and difficulties, but I also long to see so many of my Mozambican brothers and sisters be freed by Jesus and rise above the terrible grip of Satan.”
Gerd finds great joy and purpose in providing a loving home for her family and supporting Dave in his role as Director of Maintenance and Operations. She is the backup flight-follower on weekends and early mornings. Gerd is also part of a weekly women’s Bible study. Anna attends the Rift Valley Academy in Kenya. Gerd shares 2 Corinthians 12:9 as an encouraging verse: “’My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” Gerd has realized how crucial it is to trust in Christ’s power and not her own strength to handle the daily challenges that come her way.
Dave and Gerd’s older children are all living in the States. Karina works as a vet tech in Kentucky but looking to relocate to Indiana. Sylvia (married to David McCutcheon) works in the marketing department of a cloud company in Florida, and Thomas is in transition after completing two years in South Korea studying Korean for future ministry.
God calls the men and women of MAF to serve Him in unique ways. He may also be calling you to a special role in the LePoidevins’ ministry. Please prayerfully consider becoming a Ministry Partner with them through prayer and/or financial support.
