Luke and Jaalah Kanagy

Luke and Jaalah Kanagy are eager to use their gifts and abilities to bring hope to isolated people in Brazil. Raised as missionary kids, Brazil has always been considered home to Luke and Jaalah.

From an early age, Luke witnessed his parents’ ministry and realized the need for the Gospel. After coming to know Christ as his Savior at the age of six, Luke’s passion for living and serving cross-culturally grew. Over the years, he became interested in aviation and decided to pursue training at San Diego Christian College in California. In 2015, Luke graduated with a degree in aviation technology with an emphasis in mission aviation. He then returned to Brazil to gain more maintenance experience as he worked with MAF’s affiliate program, Asas de Socorro.

Jaalah was born in Pennsylvania, and her parents were also missionaries in Brazil. During family devotions one day, she trusted Christ as her personal Savior. Her family lived amongst the Javaé tribe in the state of Tocantins, Brazil, most of her life. After attending Word of Life Bible Institute in New York, Jaalah moved to northern Brazil for a two-year internship.

Shortly after Luke returned to Brazil, he met Jaalah who was ministering alongside her parents. They admired each other’s heart and desire to serve the Lord. In November 2018, they were married.

The Kanagys will be based in Boa Vista along the Branco River. As a pilot, Luke will have the opportunity to bring physical and spiritual transformation to remote people groups. Jaalah is ready to join the ministry of the local church and disciple young women.

Passionate about supporting the church and evangelism efforts, Luke and Jaalah look forward to serving God in this unique ministry with MAF.
