MAF missionaries raise support for a pooled fund out of which MAF covers salary, housing, benefits, and staff-related ministry expenses. MAF exercises discretion over the use of missionary support to carry out its mission and care for its staff.
Dick has been serving in aircraft maintenance for many years and remains so grateful for God’s loving presence as he worked on the Operations Team. Last year Dick moved from the Director of Maintenance position to a project seeking to research, test, and implement an aircraft maintenance software program. This software system promises to improve safety in aircraft maintenance and make tracking of parts more efficient for the Indonesia region. This project will help chart the course for the future of MAF maintenance work in Indonesia, as well as other countries where MAF serves.
Colossians 1:15-17 says, “The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” Dick refers to this scripture often because it grounds him and serves as a reminder that regardless of his circumstances, God “holds it all together.”
Mary devotes most of her time to the care of their family and also enjoys teaching MAF’s national Indonesian mechanics English Language. Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit,” has encouraged Mary to live every day exhibiting the joy and peace that faith provides.
