Rob and Nancy Norwood are excited to serve with Mission Aviation Fellowship in Nyankunde, Congo. They have been eagerly waiting for the timing to line up so that they can again use their gifts to minister on the mission field. Nancy plans to start a new school in Nyankunde and teach first and second grade, while Rob will join the computing staff.
The Norwoods are from the Seattle, Washington, area and have been married for 35 years. Their three adult sons are Josh, Robby (married to Ali), and David (married to Sarah).
Nancy accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior in the fourth grade. She holds a degree in biblical studies and elementary education from Northwest Christian College and an elementary education degree from Western Washington University. While attending Bible college, she felt God’s calling to missions, but it would be many years later (2001) when God would open the door for their family to serve short-term in Indonesia with MAF.
Rob’s early years were spent in Los Angeles, California, before he moved to Burien, Washington, during elementary school. Later on he earned a master’s degree in computer science. It was not until his college years that Rob, following a Josh McDowell seminar, saw the light and invited Jesus into his heart. At this time, Rob and Nancy developed a close relationship, but it would be several years until they would reunite and marry. Rob and Nancy have enjoyed serving in their local church and using their God-given gifts to minister to others.
Upon returning from Indonesia in 2002, the Norwoods found they had a passion to serve in missions, but doors continued to close due to denied visas or caregiving responsibilities. However, following Rob’s retirement from Boeing, an opportunity arose to venture overseas to support missionary families living in Africa. They are ready and willing to use their skillsets to support MAF. A favorite verse from Scripture is found in Philippians 1:21, “For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
God calls the men and women of MAF to serve Him in unique ways. He may also be calling you to a special role in the Norwoods’ ministry. Please prayerfully consider becoming a ministry partner with them through prayer and/or financial support.
MAF missionaries raise support for a pooled fund out of which MAF covers salary, housing, benefits, and staff-related ministry expenses. MAF exercises discretion over the use of missionary support in the exercise of its mission and care of its staff.
