MAF missionaries raise support for a pooled fund out of which MAF covers salary, housing, benefits, and staff-related ministry expenses. MAF exercises discretion over the use of missionary support to carry out its mission and care for its staff.
Benjamin and Sarah Porch are excited to join the Lord in the work He is doing through Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF). As a family, their desire is to make the name of Jesus known and worshipped. Benjamin has always had a passion for aviation and is excited to use the gifts and skills the Lord has given him to serve and support the work of disciple-making among isolated peoples. Sarah has a heart for discipleship. She is eager to continue discipling those around her, including the little people in their home!
Although born in the United States, Benjamin grew up primarily overseas. His parents served in Guinea and Senegal as church planters. As a result, mission work has always been a part of his life as long he can remember. His parents consistently pointed him to Jesus and he accepted Christ at a young age; however, it was not until college at LeTourneau University that his faith truly took root and began to mature. Benjamin graduated from LeTourneau in 2011 with a degree concentrated on mission aviation. Working in Texas and Minnesota, he has filled a variety of roles, from aircraft mechanic to chief pilot of a large flight school, but the call to missions has remained constant. He has known of MAF for years, and the positive influence of seeing MAF workers with a heart for Jesus and service has drawn him to the organization.
Sarah, born in Texas, was raised in Dakar, Senegal, where her parents served at a mission school. It was during these growing up years that she put her faith in Christ and dedicated her life to serving Jesus. Growing up in a developing nation left a deep impression on Sarah’s heart for people. This led her to pursue a nursing degree at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor with the intention to pursue missions. Over the years, Sarah has worked and served in both professional and ministry settings in the United States and overseas. Being married to Benjamin has opened her eyes and heart to the invaluable work of mission aviation and its ability to impact people’s lives for eternity.
Benjamin and Sarah have known each other since their high school years together in Senegal where they were good friends. Their friendship continued through their college days in Texas. Several years after college, they realized how much they truly cared for each other and how they had a shared vision for life and ministry. Once they realized this, it did not take them long to seal the deal in 2017 and start life together!
In the words of their family verse, Isaiah 61:10-11, Benjamin and Sarah “greatly rejoice in the LORD … for He has clothed them with the garments of salvation!” They long to serve joyfully and see the promise fulfilled that “the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to sprout up before all the nations.”
God calls the men and women of MAF to serve Him in unique ways. He may also be calling you to a special role in the Porchs’ ministry. Please prayerfully consider becoming a ministry partner with them through prayer and/or financial support.
