MAF missionaries raise support for a pooled fund out of which MAF covers salary, housing, benefits, and staff-related ministry expenses. MAF exercises discretion over the use of missionary support to carry out its mission and care for its staff.
Sheri Sanders is a short-term missionary teacher assigned to serve with Mission Aviation Fellowship in Papua, Indonesia. She will be teaching missionary children in the three-room satellite school in Wamena. She is looking forward to fulfilling God’s plan for her by using the gifts and talents God has given her.
Sheri was born in Chicago, but calls the small town of DeMotte, in northwest Indiana, home. That is where she grew up and raised her family. After graduating from St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana, with a Bachelor of Science degree in education, she took a 5th-grade teaching position at the same school she attended as a child. Sheri spent 20 years at that school nurturing and educating children to be lifelong learners.
As Sheri’s two children got older, her faith journey continued to grow, and she felt compelled to serve in missions. She participated in two mission trips to Haiti where she fostered relationships with children in orphanages while sharing God’s Word. Sheri was first introduced to MAF during a field trip with her class to her county airport where she was given an MAF pamphlet about MK teachers.
Sheri is greatly encouraged by Isaiah 12:2, “I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense; He is my salvation.” She says, “This verse reminds me to trust in God, give Him my worries and gather my strength from Him.”
God calls the men and women of MAF to serve Him in unique ways. He may also be calling you to a special role in Sheri’s ministry. Please prayerfully consider becoming a Ministry Partner with her through prayer and/or financial support.
