MAF missionaries raise support for a pooled fund out of which MAF covers salary, housing, benefits, and staff-related ministry expenses. MAF exercises discretion over the use of missionary support in the exercise of its mission and care of its staff.
Marcos and Maddison Souza are excited that God has called them to serve as missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship. As a Maintenance Specialist, Marcos will work in the hangar to keep the airplanes safely running to transport missionaries, medical personnel, and supplies. He also looks forward to building relationships with the local people and being a part of a genuine Christian community in order to spread the good news of Christ. Maddison will continue in her role as a full-time mom raising their three children, Elias, Zoe, and Clara. She is also excited about finding ways to serve in women’s and children’s ministries and to possibly use her sports background to build relationships.
Marcos was raised in a Christian home and was strongly influenced by the training and mentorship of his dad. He came to faith at a young age and felt a call toward full-time ministry during junior high. He went on several overseas mission trips during high school and college. Marcos has always had a love for aviation and fixing things, so when he was introduced to MAF during college, he was immediately excited about the possibility of combining these passions with his desire to see Christ proclaimed to the nations.
Maddison was also raised by believing parents and accepted Christ at a young age. She had the privilege of growing up in mission-minded churches, and her parents were influential in directing her toward missions. She grew up reading the biographies of MAF missionaries such as Betty Greene and Nate Saint, and began going on short-term mission trips as a teenager. Marcos and Maddison met on a mission trip to El Salvador and were married in 2011. Together they share a passion to see the Gospel advance to the ends of the earth.
