MAF missionaries raise support for a pooled fund out of which MAF covers salary, housing, benefits, and staff-related ministry expenses. MAF exercises discretion over the use of missionary support to carry out its mission and care for its staff.

Dan Wanvig feels blessed to be able to serve God as he works with Mission Aviation Fellowship to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to isolated people. Countless people around the world live in villages that are very challenging to reach and may easily take a week or more to access. With the help of aviation, those same villages can be reached in just minutes instead of days! With this in mind, Dan has acquired pilot and mechanic certifications in order to help reach these people.

Dan grew up in Oregon and gave his life to Christ at a young age. At about age ten, he determined that he wanted to commit his life to fulltime ministry and began thinking about how that might look. Having had a longtime interest in World War II history and the warbirds of that era, he had an interest in aviation and thought about how he might use that passion in ministry. Not long after, Dan learned about MAF and soon determined that it was the ideal fit. He graduated from Portland Community College with a degree in aviation maintenance technology and acquired his commercial pilot’s license, working in flying lessons whenever he could.

He is grateful for the Lord’s faithfulness throughout his journey and, especially in times of uncertainty, has taken great encouragement from Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.” Dan looks forward to continuing to see God’s hand at work and stands ready to be used by Him as He sees fit.

God calls the men and women of MAF to serve Him in unique ways. He may also be calling you to a special role in Dan’s ministry. Please prayerfully consider becoming a ministry partner with him through prayer and/or financial support.
