Brad and Kristian and their three girls, Karisa, Elisa, and Brianna, served with MAF in Africa for 18 years. Brad was a pilot/mechanic and program manager in Congo, Central African Republic, and Lesotho. They are now serving in Nampa, Idaho, as part of the MAF Member Care team.
Brad is involved in discipling new staff as they join MAF and prepare to go overseas, then as a resource for them as they face challenges on the field. He occasionally visits MAF overseas bases to encourage the teams. Brad helps MAFers work through a variety of issues: learning ways to be a first-person witness as they build cross-cultural relationships, maintaining a healthy marriage, spiritual warfare, conflict resolution with team members, and handling stress and fatigue in new environments. Brad’s desire is to address these issues in the wisdom and grace of God’s Word, allowing missionaries to thrive in their place of service.
The Lord has put discipleship on Brad’s heart, and he sees great opportunities with the younger men in MAF. He has conversations every day to hear men’s hearts and guide them into a deeper relationship with God.
Brad was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, and with his Air Force family, relocated nine times before settling in Houston, Texas. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior when he was 9 years old while attending his grandparents’ church in Oklahoma City, OK. He began growing in the Lord in his early college years where he was discipled by Keith Hull, a missionary in Waco, Texas. Keith also introduced him to missions. Brad completed flight and aircraft maintenance training at Texas A&M and Texas State Technical College.
Kristian was born in Dayton, Ohio. She lived in Denver, Colorado, during grammar school, and moved to Dallas, Texas, in her teens. Kristian had the privilege of growing up in a Christian home and hearing of God’s love and plan of salvation when she was very young. She accepted Christ at 5 years of age. She holds a B.A. in Business and a secondary teaching certification. Brad and Kristian met when they were both attending college in Waco and were married on February 22, 1992.
God calls the men and women of MAF to serve Him in unique ways. He may also be calling you to a special role in the Westoms’ ministry. Please prayerfully consider becoming a Ministry Partner with them through prayer and/or financial support.
