QCD

Gifts from an Individual Retirement Account (IRA)

Congress has permanently approved the IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) provision, allowing those ages 70½ or older to contribute up to $100,000 per year directly to charity. This means you have the opportunity to partner with Mission Aviation Fellowship through your IRA without affecting your cash flow.

Benefits of a QCD

  • Avoid taxes on transfers of up to $100,000 from your IRA to MAF
  • May satisfy your required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year
  • Reduce your taxable income, even if you do not itemize deductions
  • Make a gift that is not subject to the deduction limits on charitable gifts

How to Make a QCD

1.Submit a request to transfer the distribution to MAF

Use our free online tool to complete the necessary forms quickly and easily. Submit them securely online or choose to print and mail the completed forms yourself.

If you’d rather not use our online tool, you can contact your IRA custodian to initiate the distribution. Please be sure to have your IRA plan administrator make the distribution directly to Mission Aviation Fellowship (NOT to yourself) and send to MAF, PO Box 47, Nampa, ID 83653.

2. MAF receives your gift

Your QCD is made to Mission Aviation Fellowship. Once complete, you’ll receive an acknowledgment letter for your gift. Please note that QCDs do not qualify for a charitable deduction, but it does reduce your taxable income.

Save time for yourself and the charity

Mission Aviation Fellowship works with FreeWill’s platform, making it easy for you to donate through your IRA. When you use this tool, MAF automatically knows who sent the gift for reporting and acknowledgement purposes. You can include a personal message with your gift and earmark it for a specific missionary or project.
