There are people who, simply because of where they were born, will never have the chance at the same life many of us in the developed world enjoy. A life where their children can go to school, where they can get medical care, where they can get help when disaster strikes, where they can experience the love of Jesus.
Millions of people around the world live cut-off from all this and more by either geographic barriers—like jungles, mountains, and deserts—or by social, political, or religious barriers.
MAF desires to see isolated people changed by the love of Christ by serving together to bring help, hope, and healing through aviation.
Imagine how terrible it would be to have a medical emergency but know that to get to the closest clinic would involve a days-long walk through jungles, rivers, and steep mountains. MAF airplanes are often called upon for medical evacuation (medevac) flights. The sight of an MAF plane landing on a dirt airstrip looks like hope. MAF delivers doctors, nurses, medicine, vaccines, and supplies to places where medical care would otherwise not be available.
There are towns and villages around the world that rely on MAF airplanes for their communities to flourish. MAF delivers building supplies, food, clean water and agriculture projects, commerce, school teachers, and more. These flights are an important link in giving remote communities a chance to grow and thrive.
The thought of receiving a meaningful education can seem far-fetched for a child living in a dense jungle or on the side of a rugged mountain. Even Western missionaries and humanitarian workers living and working in remote places don’t often have many options when it comes to education for their children. MAF helps by transporting students to schools, bringing teachers to remote places, and delivering school supplies.
For years, the passengers in MAF airplanes were often Western missionaries. Today, MAF is overjoyed to come alongside church leaders and Christian workers from around the world as they share the love of Jesus with isolated people who have never experienced it. Passengers on our airplanes might include local pastors traveling to conference, missionaries from the US or Europe, Bible translators, or indigenous evangelists who want to reach a neighboring tribe with the Gospel.
Floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, and other natural disasters are terrible wherever they strike. But when they hit areas that are already cut off from the outside world, what little hope there was shrinks away. Every year, MAF responds to crises, delivering food and clean water, medical supplies, shelter, and materials for rebuilding. Other relief organizations rely on MAF's airplanes and skilled pilots to get them to disaster sites safely, while MAF's communication systems and logistics expertise enable their work.
Our technology resources help indigenous church leaders, missionaries, educators, doctors, and evangelists living and serving in remote areas. We make it easier for isolated Christians to receive theological training and then pass it on. Our technology makes it possible for doctors at remote clinics to gain much-needed internet access for research and consultation as they treat their patients. MAF also opens the door for disaster response teams from other organizations to coordinate relief efforts by establishing internet connections onsite. MAF uses these technologies and more to overcome the barriers that separate isolated people from the love of Jesus Christ.
Jesus commanded all of us to make disciples—not just pastors, not just church-planters, not just those with the gift of evangelism. Because of the Great Commission, we believe MAF plays an important role in the process of isolated people becoming Christ’s disciples. We also feel called to make disciples in whatever context we find ourselves in—whether that is in remote villages, in our hangars, or the cities where we live.
Translating the entire Bible into another language takes a long time—we’re talking years—sometimes even decades! Our partner missionaries must learn the local language, become engaged in the culture, and then spend years and years faithfully and meticulously translating God’s Word into a language that connects with the people. MAF plays a key role in this process. Whether it is delivering the Bible translators to and from their village home or flying in loads of freshly printed Bibles—MAF is proud to be a part of this important work.
MAF is committed to making a lasting difference in the places we serve, whether that is through bringing in supplies and help—or in some cases helping the people we serve have the chance at a better future by providing aviation or technology-related training in some of our locations.

For 75 years, MAF has used aviation to share the love of Jesus Christ with isolated people who have not yet heard the Gospel.
Airplanes are highly effective tools used to deliver help and hope to places where there are no airports. Where the terrain is rough. Where an airstrip may be a crude clearing through a jungle or on the side of a mountain.
Your gift makes a lasting difference by helping to share Christ’s love with isolated people.
