A Singular Focus

When I stop and think about how much we do at MAF, it begins to overwhelm me.

Coordinating flights with partner ministries and other organizations and government officials is no easy task. Maintaining safety in the midst of all the busy work that consumes the time of our staff doesn’t happen without great attention to detail. Likewise, developing and maintaining learning and communication systems requires great time and precision.

However, after digging down past all the tactical things we do to make this ministry run smoothly, you realize the ultimate singular focus: to reach people with the life-changing truth of the Gospel.

Each day, MAF touches thousands of lives through its flight programs and learning technology initiatives around the world. So much of what we do is the demonstration portion of the Gospel, the showing others God’s love. It’s how we make an impact in the physical realm.

But in the spiritual realm? It’s all about the Kingdom and the Gospel. MAF’s greatest contribution is how we help spread the Gospel with our ministry partners.

One of the biggest challenges I face is trying to discern the way forward. How do we make an impact for the Kingdom? How can we best share the life-changing message of God’s love?

After I consider all of these things, I’m reminded just how simple the Gospel can be:

But seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33, ESV)

Instead of getting stressed out and wondering how we’re going to meet the needs of all our ministry partners, or how we’re going to raise the money to buy four new planes, or how we’re going to maintain the safety of our incredible missionaries, I remember my number one goal: Seek the Kingdom of God. It’s a challenge we must meet, for in it lies the way forward. In seeking the Kingdom we are doing what God has called us to do—and doing it all for His glory.
