He who heeds instruction and correction is [not only himself] in the way of life [but also] is a way of life for others.
-Proverbs 10:17a (AMPC)

Monday, August 13
Thank You, Heavenly Father, for being our good Teacher through Your Word, other people, and through trials of all sorts. May we receive instruction and correction well. And by the life You give us, may we be life-givers to others.

Tuesday, August 14
MAF’s Disaster Response team and East DRC staff are monitoring an Ebola outbreak. Cases have been confirmed in Mangina and Beni, about 65 nm from Nyankunde, where the MAF base is located. Pray for protection of Nyankunde and the people there.

Wednesday, August 15
MAF has not yet played a major role in this Ebola outbreak as of this writing. Last Tuesday, Samaritan’s Purse flew a shipment of personal protection equipment (PPE) to the hospital in Nyankunde, and our staff unloaded it. (see photo). Pray for MAF staff and the Disaster Response team, and for a wise and flexible action plan in response to this changing situation.

Thursday, August 16
Lift up Juan Carlos and Johanna Portillo who have served as a pilot/mechanic family in Oaxaca, Mexico, with the MAF affiliate program Alas de Socorro Mexico (ADSM) for 13 years. Most recently they served two years on loan to Suriname and now they are in the process of a reassignment to Guatemala with another MAF affiliate, AGAPE. Pray for them as they navigate through these big adjustments.

Friday, August 17
Pray for the MAF mechanics as they maintain the MAF fleet with excellence and in all kinds of weather. Pray that they can complete their inspections around the world in a timely way.

Saturday, August 18
Lift up Perry and LaNae Pust, who are serving on home staff in the Mobilization Department. They have previously served 21 years in Indonesia, Perry, as a pilot/mechanic, and LaNnae as a teacher. Pray for Perry as he recruits the next generation of pilots and mechanics. Praise God for their outreach as a couple to their community.

Sunday, August 19
Pray for good preparation for the upcoming MAF-US President’s leadership summit and for each one who will attend.
