Walk with Me

My mind has been far too busy lately. There is much change to process. Many challenges and trials to face. More decisions to be made.

My heart and mind are tired. They need a rest.

As I sit quietly this morning, I am asking the Lord to show me His glory like He did for Moses on that mountain so long ago—to revive me by His Word, strengthen me by His Presence.

With my Bible laid out before me, I gaze out my window into the soothing, overcast sky. The soft breeze invites me to linger awhile. “Be still and know that I am God” is whispered into my soul.

My eyes and heart open wide.

I watch as my neighbors walk by. The elderly woman holds onto the young girl’s arm. Very slowly they make their way down our street, enjoying the tranquility of the early morning hours. This tender and age-worn woman suffered a stroke a few years back and now requires help with the simplest of tasks. The younger girl, with arms strong as steel, provides such patient confidence for her ailing grandmother. There is no rushing, frustration, or annoyance in this girl’s demeanor. Only gentle patience for the one who needs her.

Walk with Me

Immediately my mind fills with thoughts of my Father, my Comforter. Joy rises as I consider how patient my God is with me. When I’m weak and struggling in this life, He gently takes my feeble hand and places it securely upon His strong and mighty arm, and we walk. Slowly through the trials. Together. And I am fortified and strengthened by the One who upholds me.

“You have been my help, and in the shadow of Your wings I sing for joy. My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me.” Psalm 63:7-8
